There is an Eye comfort mode which lets the user read books on the tablet without straining the eyes. There is a fingerprint sensor at the right bezel. Currently, the only available color scheme is “Space Gray”. One downside with the MediaPad M5 is that it lacks the accurate support for streaming HD video.
Hardware & Performance
Powering the Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4 is the Kirin 960 which is perfectly adequate for this tablet. Huawei MediaPad M5 packs 32MB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via an SD card. The tablet comes with 4GB of RAM which is sufficient in this price range but 32GB storage space seems very little. The Huawei MediaPad M5 runs Android 8.
On the performance front, the slate is quite impressive. Navigation is quick and easy. Coming to the cameras, the slate packs a 13-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter which provide a better experience for taking pictures. Camera app works quite well and produces nice and colorful shots. As far as the front camera concerned, it works well for video chats, alongside having support for 4K video recording. The sound is also better than the other similarly sized device.
Battery & Charging
There’s a 7500mAh cell inserted inside the MediaPad M5 which offers mediocre battery life. The tablet is rated to deliver up to 12 hours of 1080p video playback and charge back up in 2.9 hours. In day-to-day use, you can expect the slate to last two or three days without charging. With fast charging capabilities, it only takes roughly two hours to fully charge.
