The operational speed of the computer is primarily dependent on the type of processor you use. So, before complaining about the speed levels of a computer, you must ascertain your expectations from your computer system. For instance, if one wants to go for high speed gaming and graphics, he must go for the latest processor. Now-a-days, Intel core i7, i5 and i3 are available for the same.
If you expect to play heavy games in Pentium series, obviously the performance of the machine will not meet the expectations. So, first of all decide what you want to do with your machine, what kind of applications you are going to run on your machine and then as per those expectations, go to a professional vendor and order the machine with the processor which can satisfy those requirements.
Besides this, another vital factor which increases the operating speed of your computer is memory. The size of RAM (Random access memory) in your system also plays a significant role in affecting the speed of your computer. If you use large RAM, then the computer system will have more power to use bigger programs and those programs can access big files. However, if the amount of RAM is less, then CPU uses swapping techniques among the programs which affects the speed of the system. However, always make sure that the RAM and hard disk memory are in compatible size-wise.
Another way to increase the speed is to introduce cache memory. Cache memory use to store frequently used data in it. Hence, whenever the Processor has access to any frequently used files, it can switch to cache memory rather than again searching it from RAM.
Another factor responsible for the speed of computer is registers. Registers are small memory areas in the CPU. They generally store the data and instructions when processing takes place by the CPU. Now-a-days we mostly use 32- bit registers but now the size of registers is increasing rapidly towards 64-bit. All these parameters are concerned with the CPU and processor. Let’s discuss now few steps which we can do in order to boost computer speed.
Step 1: Keep your desktop clean. Delete the files and other content like music which is no more required by you. It will increase the speed of your computer system.
Step 2: If speed is less, use and install any antivirus program on your system and scan your system regularly. It will eradicate the unwanted virus and spyware from your system which affects the speed.
Step 3: Keep a proper balance between hardware and software. This is the most significant requirement; say if your keyboard is not working properly, you can’t expect good speed in your word processing document. Always keep your system hardware updated so that equilibrium can be maintained between hardware and software.
Step 4: Another tip to increase your computer speed is to avoid starting the programs automatically specially after booting.
Step 5: You can also uninstall the programs which are of no use and hence, you can increase the operational speed of the system.
