How effective is PowerPoint when preparing your talks, classes or even presentations that you automatically default to Microsoft Application? If you give a lot of talks, and you always use PowerPoint, now it’s time to switch from Microsoft PowerPoint to Google slides.
Google slides are ideal for collaboration. With Google slide templates you will enjoy putting your presentation together. The process is easier, lightweight as well as straightforward, than the traditional PowerPoint process.
Understanding Google slide templates
Google slide template is Google’s flagship presentation application which lives inside your browser as part of Google documents. It is 100% free – the only thing you need is to open your Google account.
Because it is a free website application, Google slides is not as full featured as other desktop applications like Keynote and Microsoft PowerPoint. However, it compensate for lack of visual features by having quite strong collaboration features (actually, the best).

Designing new presentation
Step 1.The first step is to sign into your GOOGLE ACCOUNT. Once you have signed into your account, go to GOOGLE DRIVE. Here, create your presentation by clicking create then presentation.
Step 2.The second step is to decide what design or pattern you want for your Google template. You can use GOOGLE DRAWING or other editing programs like photo-shop to generate your designs. If you decide to use Google Drawing, head to FILE MENU and select PAGE SETUP. Select your desired page size to match the size of your Google Presentation.
Navigating Google Slides
Google slides works just like other desktop presentation apps. The left side of Google Slides shows the slides which you have created, and the body of your desktop show the slide you are working on.
Adding and deleting slides
Once you are okay with the appearance of your TITLE SLIDE, you may add to your presentation. To add other slides, click on + button on the left side of your screen. You will form a new slide with a title as well as body layout.
Now you can add:
• Text – for the text, you will need to do some extra formatting. Click on the BODY TEXT BOX to see the various options available, and then MORE to show other text options.
• Animations – for animations, you may use both transitions between slides and slide elements. You can add transition by clicking on TRANSITION button; Animations toolbar will appear where you can choose and customize the animations in your presentation.
• Media – for media, click on the ARROW button near the + button and choose your preferred layout for the slide. You can delete your slides by clicking on EDIT then Delete or simply press DELETE key after selecting the slide. Present now that you have designed your presentation, click on PRESENT button to see what you have designed. If you are presenting somewhere with no internet access, you can export your presentation as a .pptx doc. through clicking FILE then DOWNLOAD as Microsoft PowerPoint.
