TechSagar was added to the list of DoFollow blogs few months back itself. I was not interested in announcing it through a blog post for my own reasons. But, from past few weeks questions kept flowing in asking me whether TechSagar is DoFollow enabled or not. This compelled me to rethink on my decision & made me to write this post explaining the benefits of making a blog DoFollow, for people who are not already aware of it.
DoFollow ! Whatz That?
By Default the blogs powered by WordPress will be having a ‘nofollow’ (rel=’nofollow’) attribute for all the external links. Because of this, people who comment on such blogs are not rewarded by search engines in the form of back links. As you might know, back links play a vital role in determining the Page Rank of a blog. The removal of ‘nofollow’ attribute from the external links in a blog makes it ‘DoFollow’. DoFollow is not a tag but, just a word used to refer the absence of ‘nofollow’ attribute from the external links. DoFollow is one of the best & widely used strategies by blogger’s for rewarding the loyal commenter’s.
How to make a blog DoFollow ?
This is pretty simple. You just need to install any of the available DoFollow plugins. This plugin will remove the nofollow tags from all the links.
Where to find DoFollow Blogs ?
The easiest way to find the DoFollow blogs is through the use of a search engine called DoFollo.com. Here you can search for DoFollow blogs in your niche by using relevant keywords. But, sometimes you may not be able to find few of the DoFollow blogs using this site. Another alternative is to use the D-List posted in some of the blogs like Courts Blog.
You can also easily check whether a particular blog is DoFollow enabled or not by viewing the source code of its page & searching for the word ‘nofollow’.
I welcome more of your thoughts (your experiences) on making a blog DoFollow.

Great man… I might do it as well when I get a better PR. Why don’t you install commentluv as well so that commenters get visibility for their latest post as well (and two backlinks, needless to say)?
cheers,
Ajith
@Ajith, I had installed ‘commentluv’ plugin. But, I deactivated it after few days of testing. Thanks for remembering me about commentluv. I will surely consider it.
Rewarding comments with following links is a great way to show respect I think. As long as you keep spam out of your comments, it’s the least you can do.
@Paul, I agree. I always recommend the installation of a powerful spam comment filters like Akismet before making a blog DoFollow. This certainly helps us to keep the spammers away from the blogosphere.
Btw, if possible, take part in my Technorati Love game… Sorry for the shameless self promotion!
Cheers,
Ajith
The dofollow movement is great. We just installed the plugins on our site. Thank you again
Of course i now about “do follow” attribute because it is very closely related to comments and backlinks. I have that D-List but I am looking for some more blogs, why, I think you know it better than me. I have tried that “dofollow.com” but it is a parked page. I have read about “fast blog finder” that is an application to find such blogs and is available in almost $50. Will you tell me about some more resources about such resources?
@Cristiana, dofollow.com is a parked page but, not dofollo.com. There was a small typo. I have corrected the link. Thanks for letting me know. This is the best place to find dofollow blogs.
It’s a nice gesture on your part. Readers are gonna love this.
Thanks for sharing useful resources. I think majority if people is familiar with D-List but dofollo.com is a new thing for me because it is quite easy to find blogs with it. I think it find blogs from Google and I shall like to know the secret behind the code.
Thanks for the info as a new blogger I didn’t know much about the do-follow situation. Is attracting spam the only drawback of enabling do-follow?
@Jon, you are right. But, that can also be avoided by using a powerful Spam filtering Service like ‘Akismet’.
Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that we have a huge comprehensive Do Follow Blog and Forums lists that are broken down by categories for easy use.

Thanks
I have too written an post on my blog. I am using dofollow plugin from last 2-3 months and the comments has increased by more than 75% than before..
It is good to be a Do-Follow Blog you reward and are rewarded back. Thank You.
Like you, i enabled my dofollow to reward my commentators and in some way, i am also rewarded with an increase in commentators and visitors. However, this also leads to a problem with spammers which i am dealing with now. - Rif Chia
That sounds cool!
it’s quite kind of you to do follow your blog. i hope your traffic increases as a result, and i hope you don’t get that many spammy comments.
I was looking to know that does being a Dofollow blog invite spammers to your domain in mass.
@Abhinav, Use of powerful spam filters like Akismet is a must if you are making your blog Dofollow.
The author and at you on blog hours on what time zone show?
thank you for the link of dofollow search engine.
This is a great post. Dofollow sounds cool.
That’s good:) I believe that good karma will be yours:)
I have been considering changing for a while, has the amount of spam comments you receive increased at all?
@Danny, No. Not really. As long as we have spam filters like Akismet installed, we don’t really have to bother about the spam comments. All the spam comments will be automatically filtered out by such plug in’s.
I agree totally. Having the dofollow attribute is a good way of rewarding your readers and its also a motivation for them to start commenting and help keep your blog active. win-win situation
This DoFollo site sure has jumped on the idea quite quickly with a clean-looking creation. This is the concept of acting without hesitating and producing something that is a risk, but also has potential to provide a long-term value.
Good to see that you are using a Do-FOllow Plugin….
I have changed my blog to dofollow for some time now. It makes sense as most bloggers avoid commenting at nofollow blogs. Let’s face it - getting backlinks when you do blog commenting is a very great incentive to comment.

Will be implementing the do follow on my blog,it’s quite kind of you to do follow your blog. I hope your traffic increases as a result, and hope you don’t get those spammy looking comments. But on a positive note it will improve you site in the eyes of the bots.
I like that you use do follow and top commentater. great ways to get people commenting.
Thank you for sharing your the info about the backlinks that we can use to increase the traffic in my site. Creating comments help me a lot because i can insert the backlink of my site.Additional info it is important to remember to always use the keywords you want to categorize in your anchor text of the relationship. Some bloggers do not allow keyword in the anchor, but only a first name. Something that I will never understand because if you are offering to follow-why put restrictions on the anchor? For the love of God that wants to qualify for his first name? However, I digressed. Links with nofollow do not count as backlinks to Google and other search engines, so you dont get the search engine ranking benefit for a link with nofollow.
